New SkyiCam services will soon include the Gigapan system that was developed by Carnegie Mellon University in collaboration with NASA Ames Intelligent Robotics Group, with support from Google. The above working sample was taken with a robotic megapixel camera system. It is digital and the interactive display is an online application. Due to the massive size of the original image file ( 314.9 megapixels! ) the initial image generation is not done with a live, online IP network camera system like the complementary, LIVE, viewer controlled, pan, tilt, zoom SkyiCam services.
